4. Embassy Interview to get your Visa

Hey! I bet a lot of you are thinking "AM I HAVING AN INTERVIEW IN THE US EMBASSY!?" but DO NOT RUSH. Your agency will let you know everything on time whenever it's time. This is just to get your J1 Visa; it's a simple interview.

So, I know some of you have some doubts on the papers you have to bring to the US Embassy Interview, and I also know it can be a little bit scary, but don't worry. If you did every step to have the appointment and you have all the paperwork, then you'll be more than fine.

Now, remember, I'm writing this for J1 students that aren't going as "trainees" or "interns" (because they'll need, in addition to the following, a DS-7002). 

First of all, There are some items you shouldn't bring to the embassy (mobile phone, a purse, a bag, etc. You should check that on the embassy website). Otherwise they'll keep them at the entry and give it back to you once you are about to leave the place. 

They will ask for these things:

1) DS-2019 *

I don't now who this guy is, but thanks haha

2) DS-106*

3) Passport*

4) Job Offer*

5) I-901 ( SEVIS payment confirmation, 35 USD)*

Beware with this document! Ask your sponsor about the instruction for paying this, don't rush.
After this payment, you should receive an email with the title "I-901 Payment Confirmation". Read the instructions and download a document that should look like this 

6) 5x5 photograph*

7) Certificate of Registered Student Status*

8) You may also want to bring a Proof of Funds (you can take it from the bank website)

Please check this with you agency, because the requirements may be different according to the country you live in. I live in Chile, so Chileans can be sure about this.

HEY! Sé que algunos están pensando !Tengo una entrevista en la embajada de EEUU!? pero tranquilos, no se apuren. Su agencia les va a decir, a su debido tiempo, cuándo va a ser. Es simplemente para conseguir la Visa J1 y es una entrevista muy "piola".

Sé que algunos tienen dudas sobre los papeles que hay que llevar a la entrevista en la embajada de EEUU, y también sé que pueden tener un poco de miedo, pero no se preocupen. Si hicieron todos los pasos para tener la entrevista y tienen todos los papeles, van a estar más que bien.

Ahora, recuerden que lo que estoy escribiendo no es para J1's que vayan como "internos" ni "trainees" (quienes tienen que llevar, además de los papeles que se nombrarán a continuación, el DS-7002).

Primero que todo, hay algunas cosas que no debieran llevar a la embajada (como celulares, carteras, mochilas, etc. Checkéenlo antes en la página de la embajada). Si los llevan se los van a quitar en la entrada y se los regresarán cuando salgan del consulado. 

Les van a pedir lo siguiente:

1) DS-2019 *

No sé quién es esta persona, pero gracias jajaja.

2) DS-106*

3) Pasaporte*

4) Oferta de Trabajo*

5) I-901 (Confirmación de pago SEVIS, 35 USD)*

Cuidado con este documento! pregúntenles a su sponsor sobre el SEVIS y ellos les darán las instrucciones... no se apresure. 
Luego de pagar el SEVIS les debiera llegar un mail que dice "I-901 Payment Confirmation". Lean las instrucciones este documento

6) Foto 5x5*

7) Certificado de Alumno Regular*

8) Quizás quieran llevar una cartola bancaria para asegurarse, en caso que les pidan.

A mi no me lo pidieron el año pasado, pero quizás si lo pidan este.

Por favor verifiquen esta información con su agencia antes de la entrevista, porque puede que los requerimientos cambien de acuerdo al país donde viva. Yo soy de Chile, así que los chilenos pueden estar seguros de esto.
